Intro

I am an assistant professor of computer science at Gonzaga University.  I received my undergraduate degree from Duke University.  I received my Master's degree in computer science from University of New Mexico with an emphasis in artificial intelligence and agent-based systems and later returned for my Ph.D. with the Scalable Systems Lab in 2005.  I worked in industry for a few years as well at Intel Corporation and Omneon Video Networks.

I consider myself a systems researcher.  Particularly, I work to modularize (or splinter) applications in order to effectively use resources to solve the problems at hand. I work with collaborators at Washington State University, University of New Mexico, Argonne National Laboratories, and various other companies and universities.  Outside of work, my family and friends keep me very occupied.

Research

My current research involves using hardware-assist to reach 100Gb/s speeds for TCP and UDP, characterizing computational biology applications using virtualization, and creating a framework to dynamically remap applications on sensor networks.  Please see my research page for a list of my current projects, my research-related publications and invited talks, and my current students.  Also, my not-quite-up-to-date CV gives details.

Personal

I live a wonderfully happy and fun existence with my husband, Jason and my two boys, JD and Leo.  Jason brews beer and rides bicycles.  I like to garden and paint and write and I look forward to the day when my sons are old enough for me to spend the time on my hobbies again.  For now, in my spare time I change diapers and read children's books and do laundry.  As a family, we go camping and hiking with our new dog, Stella.  I also occasionally ride a bicycle or drink a home-brewed beer.
